Brian Boudreau Back to Back
In Whip City Speedway 270’s

WESTFIELD, MA, June 6, 2009 Brain Boudreau won his second consecutive 270cc Mini Sprint feature at Whip City Speedway on Saturday, racing relentlessly from his 12th starting spot.  Boudreau passed 8 cars in just 2 laps and then methodically worked his way to the front, grabbing the lead on lap 6. It was his third win of the season for the Richmond Racing stables.  Matt Galko had a strong run from 11th to claim the runner-up and Seth Carlson came from 9th to finish 3rd.

It appeared that the 600cc feature would be a Bigelow Brothers bonanza, as Paul and Ryan Bigelow started side by side in the front row and ran first and second for 16 laps.  But a mechanical failure on Ryan’s car put him into the second turn fence, where he was uninjured but out of commission.  Paul went on to claim his first feature win of the season, with Luke Greenwood in hot pursuit.  The event was highlighted by a side by side racing demonstration put on by Anthony Nocella and Rich Crooker, which lasted for several laps.  They finished third and fourth, respectively.

Points leader John Virgilio won his 750cc heat and then captured his second feature of the year with a late race pass on Kristin Phillips.

R.J. Tufano lost a heartbreaker in the 1200cc Mini Sprints when he was involved in a late race tangle after leading 17 laps.  Charlie Pease was well positioned to inherit the lead and he held off Doug Norrie to take the win and climb to the top of the points standings.

Teen age Rookie Makayla Lucia was smooth as silk in the 750 Sportsman feature, holding off a field that included competitors more than three times her age.  It was her first Mini Sprint victory.

The wingless Quad 4 Midgets put on a broadsliding exhibition in a frenetic feature which went green to checker.  Affably loquacious Scott Viets nailed the win, followed by Vince Jacobs and last week’s winner Joe Krawiec.

Eric Bacon brought it home first in the Modified Lite feature.  Bacon, who was without a dirt track ride at the start of the season, wheeled the Keith Morgan owned entry to victory lane in a 20 lap race that saw 4 caution flags in the first 8 laps and then ran non-stop to the finish.  Ryan Charland was second and Ryan Nicewicz charged from 11th to finish 3rd.

Racing resumes this Saturday night at Whip City Speedway, which is easily reached from either Exit 15 or Exit 16 on I-91 and from Exit 4 on the Mass Pike.
